Did the meaning
of it change since corona?
First we talked about aspects that have changed and put them into categories. Then we went outside to make pictures of what we thought related to this.

"these mappings of other places become part of your world"
Everyday we enter into discussions with people for different reasons. Sometimes we have a particular purpose for communicating, but often we just want to talk to friends and strangers to hear their ideas and to express ourselves. The vast majority of these conversations quickly slip our mind and are never recorded because we think they are trivial. Yet we live in a time when our opinions are valued very highly. Everyone from politicians to marker researchers are fascinated by how we feel about particular issues. Curiously though, when we enter into discussions in those contexts, we tens to use a very strange stilted and alienated language, that neatly packages our ideas. In addition, these discussions tend to focus only on a single issue, for example the building of an incinerator rather than asking wider questions about how our society produces and disposes of goods. This map suggests a model for recording the apparently trivial conversations and events of our everyday lives and allows us to see them all simultaneously without being constrained to a narrowly defined topic. When it is possible to see this overview, these apparently disconnected conversations show their true value and form clusters of issues and concerns.

Monday 24 May. My walk was around 45 minutes. It was between 14 and 15 o clock.

I walked 3090 steps at this time. Weather very bad...

I decided to split my walk up in two parts.

The first part i just walked with my parents just like every person would walk. Just looking at my surrounding and talk a bit with my parents over subjects we would notice on our way. We saw that in the area where first only was nature, people where building something. We where very curious what they where building. We also thought that in this part of The Netherlands (Hoofddorp), real nature is hard to find. Everywhere you look you will see a human creation. Even in the nature you will see signs where to walk and where not to walk. Where to let your dog poop and where you can ride the horse. They even decide where you should walk by making a walking route with small shells.

We also looked at the dark clouds in the sky. It was not raining yet but the clouds where coming our way. We speculated about why the weather is so bad for this time of the year. It's already May but we still wore our Winter coats.

I reflected on this first part at the end of the walk. The second part i would focus myself more on the details of my surroundings. I made pictures on what i found interesting.
I noticed that the umbrella of my mother had a nice colour in contrast with the grey sky.

Because I got corona I only got the opportunity to walk through Google maps. It was quite a weird experience, because you move very quickly and it was kind of hard to focus on one thing. A normal walk you can look around simultaneously, but this felt very different. I walked very far and captured some things that stood out for me.

I started walking from my home in street view and in 40 min I moved to the other side of Dordrecht and back again.

How bad do you mind putting on a face mask?
Would you prefer wearing a face mask if it is stylish?
How often do you wear a disposable face mask?

Do you ever throw a disposable mouth mask on the floor?
Do you feel that face masks help?

Picture above. When you see a circle in a park, is it tempting to sit in it?
We often see that art and social distancing are combined. Does this make it more fun to keep your distance?

Have you ever cycled through curfew?
Did curfew keep you from going to friends?
Have you been more in nature due to the measures?
Do you think you will walk as much or less after all the measures?
Not being allowed to buy a drink after 8 hours, keeps me from getting drunk.
How do you greet people these days? More answers possible.
How long would you queue for a store you like?
How often do I say I am a household when I actually am not?

What do I really want to get open again?
Why do you want that the most?
I want to say this about the measures / pandemic.

People:

Plot:

Purpose:
When everything is back to normal
Nature, parks (contrast with city)
Humans who like to walk in their free time.
Either to calm their minds, to walk their dogs.
People that started walking more because of corona,
and put this into their daily life even when everything is normal.
Reflecting on experiences while walking. To explore your mind more and find reasoning within actions of yourself and others.
To make people think about different times and reflect on it.
(Optional, when this would be within corona times the purpose would be to reflect on other things than working behind a screen all day)
Researching why people go out in nature and what impact it has on them
Creating a new survey
